More Than a Team
Strategic leadership, brand development, and community engagement that transformed a vision into a thriving youth football organization.
Project Overview
What began as a vision to provide young athletes with opportunities beyond the football field evolved into a comprehensive athletic program built on development, accountability, and opportunity.
As the founder and organizational leader of Naples Knights Football, I spearheaded the development and management of a competitive youth football program serving approximately 30–40 athletes per season.
Over three years, I directed organizational strategy, brand development, financial planning, fundraising, community partnerships, recruitment, and operational execution.
The objective extended far beyond building a competitive team. It was about creating an organization capable of opening doors for young athletes while establishing the infrastructure and relationships necessary to sustain that mission.
The Challenge
Building an organization from the ground up requires more than a compelling vision. It requires a strategy capable of supporting it.
The challenge was to develop and maintain a competitive athletic program while navigating the operational, financial, and logistical demands of serving dozens of student-athletes.
Success depended on securing sustainable funding, recruiting athletes, establishing community partnerships, coordinating extensive travel logistics, and delivering a consistent experience for athletes and families.
Every component needed to work together to support the organization's mission and long-term success.
The Strategy
Turning vision into execution.
I developed and implemented a comprehensive organizational strategy built around four priorities.
1.
BRAND DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Established and maintained the program's identity, communications, and community presence to build credibility, attract athletes, engage families, and strengthen relationships with supporters.
Developed promotional materials, digital communications, recruitment initiatives, and community outreach strategies that positioned the organization as an opportunity-driven athletic program.Created fundraising initiatives and cultivated relationships with donors, businesses, and community organizations to support program operations.
Secured recurring sponsorship relationships, cultivated multi-year donor support, and coordinated fundraising campaigns, including a Snap! Raise initiative that generated approximately $10,000.
These relationships played a critical role in supporting organizational sustainability and expanding access to athletic opportunities.2.
FUNDRAISING & STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS
Oversaw an organizational budget of approximately $200,000 while coordinating schedules, transportation, lodging, meals, vendor relationships, volunteer support, and ongoing communications.
Developed systems and processes to manage complex operational requirements, respond to challenges, and maintain continuity across multiple seasons.3.
OPERATIONAL LEADERSHIP & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
4.
ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT & OPPORTUNITY
Built recruitment and athlete-support initiatives that connected participation in competitive athletics with broader educational and personal development goals.
Coordinated academic support, college recruitment considerations, and family communications to help student-athletes navigate opportunities beyond high school.Execution
From strategic planning to boots-on-the-ground delivery.
My responsibilities extended across nearly every aspect of organizational management outside of on-field coaching.
I led cross-functional coordination among coaching staff, athletes, families, volunteers, sponsors, transportation providers, and community partners.
Whether organizing travel for an entire roster, developing new fundraising opportunities, coordinating community service activities, or responding to unexpected logistical challenges, my focus remained consistent: practical solutions, clear communication, and mission-aligned execution.
This required the ability to move seamlessly between high-level strategic decisions and the details that determine whether a program succeeds.
The Impact
The results reflect both the organization's operational growth and its influence on the athletes it served.
